Tall Poppies The Podcast, Series II from January 2020

Posted on December 19, 2019 at 10:12 pm by admin
Dear Listeners,
It has been a remarkable year for Tall Poppies, The Podcast. I have been fortunate to be able to welcome phenomenal guests to the programme and we now have over 5,000 listeners tuning in from around the globe.

I’ve been busy collecting a new series of interviews over the last months, and in January 2020, I will be presenting these on the podcast.  Among my guests are award-winning writer, Gail Jones, the acclaimed horn player, Hector MacDonald, and Berlin Philharmonic violinist and conductor, Stan Dodds, to name but a few.

There was standing room only, for the fourth “Tall Poppies Talk,” Australian Salon a few days ago in Berlin. Our guest of honour, Stan Dodds, grew up in Adelaide and joined the Berlin Philharmonic as a violinist in 1994. He is also a conductor and member of the orchestra’s executive committee.
In the course of the evening, Stan shared many anecdotes from his Adelaide childhood and growing up as the eldest of five siblings, four of whom were talented violinists. He also played some wonderful Bach and gave the Salon audience many insights into his musical education, family and, indeed, professional life. You will be able to hear Stan’s story on Tall Poppies, The Podcast early in 2020; so keep an ear out for it.
Special thanks to all of you who have been supporting Tall Poppies, The Podcast over the last year. First, to my many amazing guests, thank you on behalf of all the listeners for being so generous with your time and sharing your inspirational stories.
A special thank you to David and Martin, who have been so generous in hosting the “Tall Poppies Talk,” salons.  And to Elizabeth and Nishad, many thanks for your careful editing and keeping a close eye on the texts that go out with each podcast. And to those of you who have been kind enough to donate money toward production costs, many thanks.
Tall Poppies, The Podcast, could not exist without your generous support.
