“Tall Poppies Talk,” an Australian Salon, founders David Jackson and Breandáin O’Shea
Dear Listeners,
It has been a busy few weeks for the Tall Poppies project.
The first “Tall Poppies Talk,” Australian Salon took place recently in Berlin, where around 40 people attended the event.
The guest of honour was oboist, music educator and composer Cathy Milliken. Salon guests were able to sample a few of Cathy’s latest compositions, and there was a lively discussion inspired by Cathy’s many projects. You can catch the Tall Poppies podcast featuring Cathy here:

There were also a few Tall Poppies among the guests including singer Siobhan Stagg and dancer/choreographer Rhys Martin.
A very special thanks to David Jackson and Martin Jung, who very generously hosted the “Tall Poppies Talk,” Australian Salon.
The salon will be taking place four times a year. If you’d like to attend, please send an email to info@tall-poppies.com
Space is limited, so we can’t guarantee we can fit everyone in, however the interest is such, that we are planning to have the Salon streamed. Details to follow.
Thanks to those who have written to say how much they enjoy the podcast. It is always so lovely to hear from you. Also thanks to those who have written with suggestions for new guests on the programme. We take all your suggestions on board for consideration.
The next Tall Poppies, The Podcast, will feature the Australian visual artist, Heather Betts, who has much insight into her work. She also recounts a fascinating story of assisting a family to escape from the former East Germany. So keep an ear out for that podcast coming soon.
Despite the phenomenal response to this project, we are still looking for sponsors to support the podcast. If you have any suggestions, please drop us a line.
Wishing you all the best from Berlin,
Breandáin
