Save the Date! Next Berlin Salon June 18th
Dear Salon Guests,
We are happy to announce that our next Tall Poppies Talk Salon is scheduled for June 18th. We’re honoured to welcome Kay Dreyfus, one of Australia’s foremost musicologists and historians, to join us in Berlin for this special event.
For those familiar with Tall Poppies: The Podcast, you may remember Kay from the captivating Alma Moodie specials. She authored the biography of the Australian violinist and more recently edited “The Fractured Self,” a collection of letters from Alma Moodie, translated by Diana Weekes. Both of these works have been featured on our podcast.
Kay serves as an Adjunct Research Fellow in the School of History (SOPHIS) at Monash University, and has doctorates in both musicology and history. Her tenure as curator of the Grainger Museum in Melbourne included editing “The Farthest North of Humanness: Letters of Percy Grainger 1901–1914” (1985). Kay’s research delves into everyday musical experiences in Australia, with notable publications including “Sweethearts of Rhythm: The Story of Australia’s All-Girl Bands and Orchestras to the End of the Second World War” (1999) and of course her biography of Alma Moodie.

Wishing everyone a happy Easter, and we look forward to seeing you on June 18th.
